This would be the case under normal eliminations, where the winner of the losers bracket has only lost once. But since this event began with a 7-game Round Robin, lower bracket players have already lost multiple times, losing their right to first place.
Oh, ok. So if the winner of the losers bracket wins the losers bracket then the best they can finish is 2nd place, correct? They don't play the winner of the top bracket?

The top two finishers in the upper bracket get 1st and 2nd place. The top two in the lower bracket get 3rd and 4th.

I don't get how they line the pieces up
It's freestyle, meaning the pieces are randomly placed on the back row at the start so theres no opening prep, no advance strategy, no memorization, etc. Players have to think for themselves from move 1 onward.
