21 move rule.

Please help! I am organizing a chess club, and my first game I played my opponent said it is a draw because of the 21 move rule what is this? He looked it up and it said it was a real thing! I only know about the 50 move rule. There is no way I can win with p+k vs k if there is a 21 move rule. I was very close to checkmate btw.😔

There is no 21 move rule.

Waredude
How do I explain that to him? That is the way he has always played, so there is bound to be an argument.

Please state this „21 move rule“. I would be interested how this keeps you from winning a k+p vs k endgame.

have him show you documentation.

Thanks!

start the game and claim draw after 3 moves, claim 3 move rule. its literally the same thing, there is no official rule anywhere i can tell that holds this 21 move rule.

No such rule as 21 move.
KobiLipari

Most official matches last longer than 21 moves, therefore if it is a high ranking match, the so-called 21-move-rule is undoubtedly irrelevant.

I bet it has something to do with him almost losing a game (22 moves) then made something up about a 21 move rule to scramble for a draw.

The 21 move rule is this - "If your king has no legal square to move and it's in check and if that happens in 21st move then the game will be decided in such a way that the side who is in check will loose the game"..... A very complicated rule

HorribleTomato

That's checkmate before the 21st move rule. Related is the checkmate AFTER 21 move rule.

I had a Q and was cornering him. After 21 moves from Queening he claimed this.

Wait, show us the position.

Waredude
I use the app. His king was on the d file. I checked him with my Q guarded by my K

Say where the pieces are and someone on a computer can post the diagram
JamesAgadir

There is no such thing as a 21 move. The end.

IMKeto

The next big question...

How many more people are going to answer the same question?

HorribleTomato

Are you SURE it was a check?

Ill be doggone! I've been playing 40+ years and knew this rule. I was gonna argue, but y'all's right! I can't find documentation in support. Was it a rule 40 years ago maybe? Regional standard house rule maybe? God knows Euchre has that going on. Anyone?
