260 rated player trying to improve

Hello

I'm rated ~260 in rapid chess, and I want to improve and raise my rating, but I'm not exactly sure what I should do. Sometimes, when I play rapid games against players who are almost the same rating as me, they sometimes blunder their queen early in the game, and when I capture the queen, they usually resign the game. Also, sometimes I am paired with players with a rating of ~300, and they find ways to capture most of my pieces and win the game. I want to be able to play a good game a) without the opponent resigning early in the game, and b) without losing all my pieces at once and losing the game. Does anyone have any tips?

Adjust your settings to above 200 and below 300. Or, play chess bots instead of people.

Take your opponents hanging pieces and double check the move you are about to make doesn’t blunder any tactics/pieces/checkmate.

Slow down and play 60 minute time control....and go through the game review for every game. How can you expect to get better when you rushing every move and not taking time to think? You have two choices:
1. Fast, easy, fun........... no improvement.

2. Slow, study the board, think hard, and afterwards, study your mistakes.......and gradually improve.

If you're looking for an easy way, you should choose a different activity. There's no fast or easy way to improve at chess.
