Okay. True point.

But if your opponent tried to avoid your sacrifices?

then you have two more rooks.

but another question what about castling in this four rook world.

If the best my opponent can do is play for a draw with passive defense then I'm not unhappy tongue.png

Although 4 knights vs 4 rooks might be interesting. The 4 knights might get a big attack early when the rooks are still terrible.

Imagine a 4 knight game... Forks would just be everywhere...
FortunaMajor

Lasker would go for four knights...

But I would take up the four bishops.

JustOneUSer
Why?

I'm still open, but maybe swinging to 4 Knights.
gingerninja2003

bishops because it's easier to open a position than to close it.

JustOneUSer
True,

But think of the forks. :P

Yeah. Perhaps that is true.
gingerninja2003

there isn't a guarantee that here will be forks in the game if your opponent is half-decent.

JustOneUSer
But your opponent could try to close it easy enough with a few pawn fortresses.
JustOneUSer
You see, at my level, no one is half decent, and thus it can work!

That is a very good point.
gingerninja2003

four knights are more fun though

the you cannot force your opponent to close the position in normal chess you can make it the best move to close the position but with four knights (unless tactics state otherwise) the non-four knight player will just not close the position and have an advantage

JustOneUSer
But with four bishops all near each other, I think it would be hard to open a position, and yet keep all bishops very active.

I'm all for knights

gingerninja2003

once comment fifty has happened i'll look at an engine and see who's right.

EndgameEnthusiast2357

knights is easier

Nordlandia

I believe that four bishops is worse off than four knights.

Extra bishop of same color is worth about 50%

Bishops and knight suffers heavily from redundancy in RNNQKNNR vs RBBQKBBR position.

For instance, which side do you prefer in the variant Chigorin Chess?

#36 how can you do that? I am intrigued!
JustOneUSer
If white is Knights, then that is another advantage for team knight, so team knight all the way! (#38)
