4 Player Chess - Checkmate should trump Points

Just as the title says. In a normal game if a player is losing by points (1v1) but is Checkmated he/she loses! However in 4v4 if you get Checkmated you can still win via points.
I can see how it promotes being aggressive and that the player who was most dominate should be considered winner, but in Chess what it comes down to, is whether you still have your head (king) or not
What do you people think?
