Hi guys!

I've been working on a thought process with the goal of keeping it as simple as possible without overlooking key steps. This is what I've come up with. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks! =)

AFTER OPPONENT MOVES:

Mnemonic: Basic Thought Process Keeps Things Simple

  1. The Board: Is your opponent’s last move safe at first glance, or is it a blunder? What candidate moves suggest themselves?
  2. Threats: Check opponent’s CCTs (checks, captures and threats) and tactical possibilities--what would he do if he had another move?--and try to figure out his vision/plan. What candidate moves suggest themselves?
  3. Possibilities: Check your CCTs and tactical possibilities, and think about your vision/plan. What candidate moves suggest themselves?
  4. King Of The Hill: Determine which candidates are safe. Of the safe candidates, calculate and evaluate as best you can and determine which safe candidate is best.
  5. Time Management: Use your time wisely--if you see a good move, look for a better one. Aim to use almost all your available time. Be extra careful and take extra time if the position is critical.
  6. Sanity Check: Take a deep breath and make sure your move isn’t a simple blunder.
