In Daily Chess, it's normally allowed to go in vacation mode to pause ongoing games. However, games in no vacation tournaments don't allow that.

Chess.com, please add a "No Vacation" option for use when one is setting up new games. There is a "No Vacation" option when setting up new tournaments, it is apparently doable.
I enjoy one-day games and play several at once. Often, there as many as 20-30% of my opponents "on vacation." These vacation takers accept one-day games then, after a few moves go on vacation for days, weeks, or until their vacation runs out and they lose on time.
Please consider the "No Vacation" option.
