A TALLY OF DATABASE-USERS & NON-USERS

Non-user. It's a game of the mind not someone else's book or program. If I can't use them in OTB, why use them here. I look at it as cheating. I review things when I'm not in a game. However, if an online rating, which doesn't impress anyone because no one knows about it outside the site, is that important to anyone's ego, feel free. I'd rather just play chess than treat an anonymous game as something that requires cheating to win.

Now who is cheating who?
I don't use anything but the analysis board supplied on the website here. I always imagined this to be the equivalent of a regular chess game made possible by the internet, with the added feature that my opponent will not complain about me taking too long to make my next move. My favorite games are when both I and my opponent remain online and play a good portion of the game like a regular chess game.

Sorry, but maybe I misunderstood you.
1. I took your "not to be in the same group as those in the Non-Users" as a shift to the Users' Side.
2. Thus, I shifted you to the User side, making it 50, 40.
3. If I was mistaken, please state your case explicitly so we can rectify the situation.
Thanks.

I think I would be condemning myself to playing the same inaccurate moves in the opening, if I did not avail myself of books and databases. I want to learn better moves, not trot out the same tired old rubbish.
Users 52; Non-users 42

Who is so lame as to use books or any reference materials during play?
Sure, study openings and use workbooks when you are alone, at a cafe or wherever, but please, during play, respect and believe in your own mind.

Questions to Non-Users:
1. Would you be at all excited in playing a game with a User-opponent? Why?
2. If ever you'll play with a User-opponent, would you care to ask what outside help he'll be using in your game?
3. Win or lose, would you play again with the same User-opponent?

In relation to "User-Non-User" subjects, hereunder is an interesting post by artfizz: (for those who might have missed them) -
