A TALLY OF DATABASE-USERS & NON-USERS

Sort:

I've updated the table in situ in post #432, adding strunk and roudtuit as non-users.

Users - 65Non-Users - 62

We do have to remember that there are, so far, about 60 declared votes for each side, and hence about 60 differing opinions for each side.

THESE two groups of opinions (A & B) can co-exist amicably:

(A) Users who want to do what they want to do - and who don't mind what non-users choose to do
(B) Non-Users who want to do what they want to do - and who don't mind what users choose to do

The difficulty arises between THESE two groups of opinions (C & D):

(C) Users who want to do what they want to do - but who try to interfere with what non-users choose to do
(D) Non-Users who want to do what they want to do - but who try to interfere with what users choose to do

That is why our Group was started, inside the group (playing another group member) you are a non-user, outside the group, you make your own choice, and we allow no conflict inside the group, you just have to play to Group rules

Art, I'm in Group B. :)

Navigating via MEMBERS -> Online Groups -> Circle of Trust OTB   confirms that there are 100 members. The ability to list the members of this group has been restricted - to administrators of the group presumably.

The external website lists 47 members. I assume the names are chess.com usernames. There's no quick method for looking up the individual rating of each member (for these 47).

Put me down in group B too. I am impressed with everyone who loves and studies chess, and I wish I could be as good at it as most of you. I thnk if I got the correct programs for post-game analysis and someone showed me how to use databases and that, I might be convinced to convert. As it is, it's all good. Chess.com is tons of fun, and the chess is just a part of that.

Anyways - this was a cool threa. It brought out an interesting discussion, and what's even better than that is that there were no trolls - it was a real community heart to heart in a way, and I think that is positive.

I'm just happy to be a part of it all, and 90% of you guys could teach me something.

/teach me guys
//pretty please?
///yes, a cherry. it's on top.

This seemed quite funny at the time (back at post #26)!

It's too late to split the counts! and no-one will admit to being in group C or D!

Art, if you're really up to it, you can read through the posts again - and for sure, you can see the bent of each player... then, divide your table into four. Any opinion to the contrary, you shift their names to the group suggested by the player themselves. I think we'll see the "funniest" comments coming up! :))

Most of group b would say the same thing, live and let live, one group is not trying to change or convince the other they are right, just stating their preference

Once you get sucked (suckered) into this discussion, there's no way out!

Groups A & B are the reasonable Users and Non-Users respectively.

Groups C & D are the UNreasonable Users and Non-Users respectively.

By definition, everyone who is in Groups A or B would say: "live and let live". No-one has so far admitted to being unreasonable - and I don't expect anyone to. It would be unreasonable to expect it!

May I edit those, Art?

A & B, are the "whatever" groups.

C & D, are the "wanna shift?" groups.

Come on, Art, please divide the groups into your A, B, C & D.

Interesting to see the comments from those who already submitted posts indicating they're C and D. More so, those you'll be placing in A & B but would want to be shifted to C & D. :))

On the subject of two camps. According to the Chess Spartans (chess-spartans), there are two types of Chess Athenians (=chess-athenians):

1. Those who flunked the entrance exam for Chess Sparta - by leaving the examination hall early.

2. Those who misread the entrance criteria - and thought they were joining Chess Armenians.

Case in point: if these players were Users, how much points are we to adjust to their ratings? 0? 50? 100? 150? 200? 250? 300? ...? :))

But Art, we're Non-Users. :) Users, like you, can give an estimate perhaps.

To get that estimate, a group of 10 comparable User 'guinea-pigs' would have to become Non-Users - and even that wouldn't work!
