A Cringe Worthy Game *shudder*

Now I know there was a topic recently about the importance of endgames...this might help that OP out lol

I am tired, been up for nearly 24 hours, mind is foggy, getting my butt whooped in chess, just about to go apesht from lack of sleep aaaaand I still manage to win a single game. A single VERY badly played game that is. No annotations but see below.

Been putting myself into bad situations for the last four games tonight. Each game with a bad blunder, two of them I just magically drop my Queen. I somehow win the above but man ooooh man is it disgusting.

Still, no point in letting only me cringe! COME AND CRINGE WITH ME! :D!!!

Btw, in case nobody noticed...I'm Black in that game.

Na I thought you had mate in one, missed the check.

Guess it was a time scramble at the end? Because 67. Nxc3 looks won.

Don't worry, it takes the words right out of my mouth as well :P

I offer my humble *cringes*.

You did drop another queen here... but it may still be 0-1. 67. Nxc3 Qxc3+ 68. Rd3 Qxf6 and you can hold the kingside and push the queenside...

Also, don't know if it's true, but do you tend to play better when you're in lost positions? Violently struggling around and remaining alert for even the smallest chances to claw back to equality. That mental state is so scary (for your opponents) I've taken to the motto "always play like you're a piece down."

instead of 65. h6 you should have taken the pawn. You still have that passed pawn on the h file...

Nxc3 was also not won. I had that all planned out as well.

67. Nxc3 Qxc3+ and it doesn't matter where White moves. I had the whole thing planned out. Btw, it was a time scramble for me as I only had a couple minutes left before I even promoted the pawn. My opponent had about 6 minutes left, but the amount of unexpected pressure I put on him probably left him a little shaken. Thus the mistakes.

Btw, I was Black. Just want to make that clear to everybody since I forgot to flip the board.

Being lazy with the second post.

Oh yeah, there is little doubt that one plays better when down. I've been in soooo many positions like this that I feel no real pressure anymore. I just make what I think are the best moves and go for it. Of course, that doesn't mean I always win, but it does mean I at least tried.

On another note, part of the reason I may be better than my rating tactics wise is BECAUSE I have put myself in so many bad positions that it is almost laughable. Still though, getting into the mind set of always playing like you are a piece down is something I really need to take to.

Protip: In the wise words of Nimzowitsch, always think "Why must I lose to this idiot?!"

I'd hate to say it...but I think that every now and then lol

A strange game. 11....Rd7?? Why not a N move? 18...g5?? seems to permit 19 Qxf6 or 20 Qxf6 or even 21 Qxf6.  Were you playing an instant move time limit? 35 Qf5+ trades Qs. 49 Kh3 50 Qh1+ Qh2 seems to hold. 52 Re8 is better. 54 Kf3 saves the Q. 56...Qa3+ and ...Qh3 seems to hold, when the b pawn starts to march.

I'd be darn proud if this was a 1 or 2 minute game. However, this is one of my classic and heavily trademarked "I shall make questionable moves will I drop while not knowing exactly what the heck I was thinking when I look back on them!" games of merit. I will never say this game, or any of it's cousins, was well done. Only that I managed to win and certainly felt no pride in it whatsoever.

In short, I could have certainly played much MUCH better. Everybody has their bad games, this is most certainly one of mine. I will say though that as I continue to learn, I am consumed by the need to experiment. Not completely certain why this is, but good or bad, I try to learn from every game I play.
