some groups are not worth being in. not all groups are for all players and i don't want alerts from a group i don't like.
Accepting Group Invites

There has to be a reason for me to belong to a group. I generally like to be an active member of a group by playing in matches or votes chess. The exception for me is the "Cheating Forum" group, which has no matches or vote chess.

I don't like to join groups that don't do anything.
Also, these groups all have something in common:
I got an invite to a group about Cats; I denied it because I don't like cats
I got an invite about some baseball team; I'm not a baseball fan

I guess. I mean, since I went on a commenting splurge I've been invited to a gazillion groups, some of which I have nothing in common with, like *changing names of groups here* "Group of adults", "People who like Bullfighting", "NBA basketball players". I will join any group that's just starting up, of which I have something in common or am neutral, to make the creators feel empowered and to help get one more member.

You could just turn off the alerts for that group and not do anything in that group, although it could clutter up your "My Groups" page. But it does make the creator happy if you join

Hey, adude23. I've been in the same situation, the commenting splurge. Here's some advice, stop. It's not worth it. If it's all about member points, that little number next to your name that indacates how much time you've wasted, or to get on the most wasted time today list, you're wasting your time.

Man, it's not about points. I could care less about points-- really. I comment to have fun and talk to others-- I will go on the record and say that 99.3% percent of my comments are from forum games. Member points aren't a matter to me, so please don't assume that I am one of those self-conscious dudes that tries to get a ton of points to look cool. By the way, how does your comment relate to this forum?
p.s. I'm having fun commenting, so even if you consider my commenting "wasted time" I don't consider it wasted at all.

Members Points don't mean anything, most of mine are from forum games too

Actually, ever sense I started making a bunch of comments and racking up member point I haven't been getting any group invites, I just keep getting challenges from people in the 1100-1300 range. At least one a day.
I always accept group invites, but I'm wondering whether I'm typical or atypical with my stance on accepting group invites? If you don't always accept group invites, why? What are the reasons for not accepting a group invite?
