Account closure- Different symbols and their meanings

Ummm, if someone came in and mocked a post I had made in 2 of the first 4 posts, I'd have blocked them, too.  Perfectly logical.  Trolls act like they are somehow entitled to spew their garbage everywhere.  Not so.  Some people will let a troll push and push the boundaries to the breaking point before doing anything.  Others, myself included, will give one chance, then take action on the very next time that a person shows trolling intent.  Trolls do not deserve anything but the very minimum benefit of the doubt.

I'd just ignore them, personally.

That approach is what has gotten us the forums as they exist today.

The real question is why does it matter why an account was closed? The mods lnow, the account holder knows, that's all that matters.

Not really because if trolls are ignored they just leave.

And perhaps you guys should stop treating trolling as some sort of pathogen. Look at the approach chess.com takes, it is obvious we are gonna have some trolls here and there.

Mmm, if you see the sign it also states the reason...

The red X is for abuse in the forums and stuff like that --- saying big bad words, or saying that down kids should be aborted will get you that icon.

The other one is for fair play violations... sandbagging or c-word. Cherub deliberately sandbagged as if there was no tomorrow.

The last one is when the user closed the account himself, just because he felt like it, and not because he broke some rule.

@pdela is a prime example of the last one, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE GRANDPA.

What is sandbagging?

Lone_Bird960

Sandbagging is losing games on purpose.

But why would you lose games on purpose?

Lone_Bird960

For example some do it so they can qualify to join a low rated tournament and win.

Yes, the occasional new troll that comes and goes, not the same dozen or so trolls making new sockpuppets forever and lounging around in private groups congratulating themselves for causing the most trouble...

We basically have to wait for them all to grow up and start dating...which could take decades, or...might never happen wink.png.

btickler, we all know that all those trolls come back because we give them attention, and it is fine, I like seeing drama, it is better than Netflix.

It's not even better than Iron Fist, never mind Netflix as a whole...

No, just depends on how exactly it gets closed. For some reason, a member that requests staff close the account, gets the fair play icon, but not the reason. Without the reason listed, then it was most likely closed by staff by request.

Kowarenai

first one is ban for abuse or fair play, 2nd one i think is for special reason and 3rd is self close

Mattew

Third one is the player that closed his account, first means closed by a mod and second ? Idk

2nd is fair play unless requested to staff to close account.

2nd is also accounts closed with no specific reason logged.  This includes all accounts closed in v2 (the old version of the site) for any reason other than fair play violations.

However, only accounts closed for fair play violations will have a message about fair play violations on their account.

MGleason

That's an old closure, so it was in v2.  Either self-closed or an abuse closure in v2, with no public information to distinguish the two.  I can't say anything about any non-public information that may or may not exist on someone else's account.
