I have gone from 671 to 1364 to 1157 and now working my way back up, all this from the first of the year
ADDiction tO cHEsS.C0M

Been playing regularly on this site since February and am sitting around the early 1400s. I was always hovering around there during the first couple of months, the difference is that I'm slowly playing higher ranked people while trying to maintain my ranking. Before, most of my opponents were 1250 to 1400, whereas now its more like 1400 to 1500 with a few 1600s thrown in. My win/lose ratio is about the same, so I'd say I'm definitely improving. I use tactics trainer every day, which helps.

This site has helped me focus on studying the game in a more organized fashion. This is mainly due to having access to tons of other human chess players. I tend not to focus nearly as much when playing computer programs. My rating is hovering around 1400 and before this site I never had a rating. Hanging around here has even motivated me to look up a local chess club. So yea, this site has definately improved my chess in every facet.
Thanks All!

321 Points this month, in 8 games. (1089 to 1410)
I have no idea when or where my Chess.com rating will settle. I try to play people rated higher than I currently am (who have also played over 100 games).

I have been here a couple months as well.. Ive always known how to play chess but i guess you can say i learned chess here.. Learned to play it well anyway - When I started out i was below 1000, then i finally understood the game. Im 1700+ now.

I'm the strongest beer drinking smoking monkey on this site!! I enjoy this site much more than yahoo, which I found to be a collection of base beginers who barely knew the rules and computer users intent on taunting people with their 'perfect' chess. This site is much more 'human', a lot more fun to play on.

Well, I just started here so we will see how much it helps my game. But I am already addicted. No surprise there, though to the people who know me. That's how I am. It's a fun place though to hang around in cyberspace.

I've gone up about 150 points..........playing regularly definitely helps you see your weaknesses and correct them........much love for chess.com

I spend at least 5 hours a day right now. But that is because I'm out of work and very bored. I've got an interview tonight and I'm hoping I'll be back to 4 hours/day max. Having said that, I joined in July? and I've gone from a solid 1250 or so to a solid 1500. I really didn't play chess much before playing here. I had a USCF rating in high school of 1180. That was 10 years ago.
Oh, I am Anthony and I am addicted to Chess.com!

See the topic below, in which a guy complains about the madness chess makes to him:

I really think chess is a serious addiction, for non-professionals.
If you are not a chess pro, or do not want to become a GM, IM, FM or so, you do not need to take chess too serious.
Chess, for non professionals, could become a serious addiction.
It only steals your time, if you do not make it fun.
Then, the secret is: make chess another way of fun to you, like other games or sports (if you play tennis, golf, you can compare).
Chess is only a fun game for me. I do not study it seriously, I only make fun from it.
As I am writing about fun, try to aswer this question:
HOW MUCH CHESS ADDICTS DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHT-BULB?
According to the amount of time you spend on chess.com per day, how much have your chess skills improved?
I've been here a couple of months, logging on every day, and I have definitely improved my rating by around 200 points.
How much have you personally improved?
