Hmm. The Home page?
I'm pretty sure it's only on the Home page and it seems like less than a third.

If you go to Help -> Billing Issues, Chess.com will give you a refund.
Premium membership has never stopped Chess.com telling you about their own events and news. I don't think Diamond membership is a "ridiculous" amount. but you don't even have to spend that much - I'm quite happy with Gold myself.

I would have thought that it's perfectly clear that I'm slightly exaggerating, as the exact size of the ad is hardly relevant here. The point, which you seem to be dodging, is that "no ads" should mean no ads, period. What do you mean by "opening a different page"? I'm paying for this one and I expect it to be ad-free as promised. (Also, your photo was taken with a phone; I use a computer, and the banner actually takes up almost a quarter of the screen. It is an actual nuisance, even if it's not comparable to being shot in the knee.)
No, the reason why the global championship is appearing because it is a event on chess.com itself. What they meant by ads is ads by third party (means ads from other companies like dominos, McDonald's,apple etc), so you will not see those type of ads but you will see chess.com events ads
I have no intention of withdrawing my membership... yet. I'm trying to raise a point and I just want to get rid of this annoying banner, and any future banners. There' no denying that they are in fact ads, and by paying for a Premium Membership I was specifically promised that I would have to see no ads. I don't mind if a banner show's up once, but I expect it to be gone for good when I click it away. Pushing it on my screen over and over again feels like spamming. To be honest, if anybody disagrees for what ever reason, I'm not interested. I paid for an ad-free membership, and at the moment it's not what I get. I mostly like Chess.com, but this makes me like it less.

There's clearly something wrong with me, as I didn't realize that "no ads" meant "some ads".
It's pretty obivous that Chess.com doesn't regard the information in those panels as "advertisements" but as "News & Information from Chess.com". You can disagree with them, but I doubt that they're going to change it, since there was a UI update that made that banner the size it is now, which is bigger than it used to be.
There's an undeniable contradiction here. Chess.com clearly states that a Premium Membership exempts you from ads, but doesn't tell that you that you have to use demon-possessed bloodhounds and black magic to find this obscure page with a disclaimer saying that "no ads" actually means "some ads". There's no escaping the fact that this is false advertising, pure and simple.
"Please note that all members will occasionally see relevant (chess-related) advertising on the Chess.com main page."

They used to have an asterisk footnote explaining that everyone can get to see Chess.com banner announcements. They must have dropped it in the recent price increase. I guess they will have to bring it back.
I was promised that by paying for a Premium Membership I would not be disturbed by ads. I naturally assumed that this would mean all kinds of ads, and ads from any source, but it seems that this does not apply to ads from Chess.com, because for the past week, every time I open or refresh this page in my browser, an ad for the Chess.com Global World Championship fills a third of my screen, no matter how many times I hide the damn banner. I pay a ridiculous amount of money for a Diamond Membership, and frankly I feel cheated when I have to click away this de facto advertisement over and over again.
Congratulations, you have just discovered that companies sometimes lie (or create their own definitions of things to suit their purposes). Welcome to the real world.
If you install the "uBlock Origin" extension in your browser, you can use its "element picker mode" to kill that ad. (At least until the site comes up with a new one...).
Congratulations, you have just discovered that people sometimes complain about companies lying. I don't think there's anything strange in mentioning that you're no getting what you're paying for, but I do find it a bit odd that random people feel a compelling need to start mouthing off under other people's perfectly reasonable posts.
You seem like an insufferable whiner. Maybe work on that.
Says someone whining about someone else whining. Why don't you just mind your own business?

Wow! You actually went through the whole thread just to down-vote all of my comments. Perhaps you should find more meaningful ways to pass time?
Hmm. I'll bet you bought your membership before September 1st. On September 1st, prices changes went into effect with a new benefit assortment along with higher prices,
Those with previously existing memberships were grandfathered in with their existing prices and benefits. Here is the list of prices and benefits before the new plans went into effect.
You can upgrade to the new plans if you want. They cost more but offer more. It's your choice.
The Contact Us page does give you a chance to actually send an email if they can't answer your question after the quick search.
You can always send an email directly to support@chess.com.
