Age diminishes pretty much everything except the waistline.  Cry

Your knowledge shouldn't diminish unless you become impared. It might reduce your speed of thought and affect your live rating.

I don't think it diminishes knowledge... in fact I imagine veteran players in their later years have a great wealth of chess knowledge.  Much more than a promising young player.

Unfortunately age can diminish your rating though.  Stamina and focus diminish.  You probably get stronger in correspondence type games though.

Age doesn't diminish knowledge, it reduces your ability to absorb knowledge especially dry, complex strings of data.

IMO, anyway.

The first things to go as you get older are your chess playing ability, your memory, and... I can't remember the other things.

what's the problem with all this about age? To remedy the situation and like everything else that deals with decreasing faculties and abilities my recommended remedy is chess '"viagra""!

Why won't it decrease knowledge? Don't you forget things?

Most of the people I play out in the park I would consider old and their knowledge of the game is deep indeed.

Knowledge doesn't decrease, but speed of calculation and stamina both suffer

If I am able to reach a 2300+ rating on Chess.com at ANY age, I will be quite pleased with myself... Laughing
