tygxc Alekhine didn't want to avoid the rematch at all costs. In his letters to Capa, he said that he would play him under the same conditions/format as before, but Capablanca was arrogant and wanted different conditions/less number of games. Then Alekhine was furious and instead accepted Bogolubov's challange instead. Then FIDE established it's own rules to chose the candidates and Capa didn't qualify

FIDE had nothing to say at that time: the World Championship title was the property of the World Champion. Only after the death of Alekhine did the previous World Champion Euwe confer the title to FIDE, which then held a tournament to decide on the World Champion, which was won by Botvinnik. Capablanca was already dead then.
Have you any reference on those Alekhine-Capablanca letters?
Capablanca underestimated Alekhine just like Alekhine underestimated Euwe.
Alekhine got his rematch against Euwe, but Alekhine did everything to avoid a rematch with Capablanca.
