most of us lose a lot. like Disgruntled said, learn from your losses.
Always a loser!

Your rating will go down, then you will level out somewhere. Take it from me, you will not always lost; I have a rating of 1063, so I know that it's fine to lose.

When I started to play chess, I lost much of my games. Now, I have become a avid player, and don't lose as much.
You're probably only lacking experience, and if that's not it, you just need to learn from your loses. Memorize some openings and their fundamentals. That'll help.

Audrey, all of the above advice is excellent. I would add that you should use some of the learning facilities on the site like the Tactics Trainer, Chess Mentor, Computor Workout, Daily Puzzle, etc. These really helped me to improve my chess skills and have led to some fairly good results. Good luck!

I wanted to add that losing in in part due to
A) who you play
B) how quickly you play
C) how you play...
to maximize wins you would play only very low rated beginners and work out your openings to play those positions you are best it. for some people quick time controls work cuz they can calculate fast, but for most of us others.... its better playing SLOW games. You'd be suprised how many ppl don't have the patience to really use all the "extra time" available during a 30+ minute game.
Now the other thing-- is winning really the point?? NOT for me. I want to be a tourney player and if I can learn a thing from chess.com- I'm very interested. Lossing means you are being outthought, espacially if you are playing slow time controls. Study your loses and your chess will improve. in this vein it might not be so bad to play rather high rated players. If your ego can take it. IF.
Remember losing alot on the internet, with a rating that doesn't mean anything is ALOT better than losing 4-5 games at a tourney you can only attend once a month.
I wonder also how many others are consistently losing games. At first, I thought it was just me but now I am wondering about this site. Maybe we are setup to lose
before we even play the game!
