As above.

DrawMaster

Not nearly, Adam. Keep your chin up, play, study, and have fun. You'll see yourself improving in all likelihood.

rcroller

dude, no way. I was beat in three moves in one game, and have lost every other one except one. Keep playing and have fun as DrawMaster has suggested.

sluck72

Study basic tactics and soon you'll feel better because you'll play better

oinquarki

No.

That's because we love you. Now quit feeling sorry for yourself and go get better.

+1, also we know someone here who has been 800 or so for a couple of a years! and you only been here for a month with a rating of 1052, believe us you will get better.

az130

me? get better at chess? pfft

kco

letting yourself down ? wrong attitude mate.

Flamma_Aquila

Chess is a game. It is supposed to be fun. Just keep having fun, and let the rest come what may. Do a little study and tactics and whatnot if you enjoy it. The day you stress yourself about improving is the day you no longer enjoy chess. Then what is the point?

waffllemaster

Nope, you're likely more average than you realize :)

In any case not even close to the worst in terms of players I've known.

Probably not, this one guy I played a few games with once in person... he was really really terrible.  Not that he'd played more than 20 games in his life probably, but even considering that it was surprisingly bad :)

I'm sure there are many skills in life that guy excelled at, but chess was definitely not one of them.

the_pawn_slayer

well from my experience you have to take a beating in chess to improve. So think of it as a learning experience and if you can take the beating you will get better.

knightdropFTW

I lost in 2 moves in a serious game once. There will always be someone worse. It took me a few years to realise that in a rook + King vs King endgame you need to actually move your king to win.

Yep. I know that guy real well, always whining about being stuck in the 800's at Live Chess blitz.  Laughing

He's a regular chess genius at other sites. It's an easy game once checkmate is understood. Here is just one of numerous examples where his opponent gets pawnd.

Deranged

Out of the worlds population, about 90% of people don't even play chess, and about 5% of people would have an equivalent chess rating of less than 800 (they know the rules but usually suck).

That makes you in the top 5% of players in the world already.

az130

flawed logic. just coz not many people play.. doesnt make me good.
