Why 10. b4?
Bd2 is much better for white.
You're white?
You need to start having more faith in yourself. You opened strongly and have the advantage. You give that up with b4, and yes you bank some rating points but personally I'd be delighted to gain an advantage like this in the opening as a 100 point dog.
What more do you want from the opening against such a strong player?
10. Bd2 shows up in my database as w/l/d - 33-30-36
10. b4, only two games at master level, both draws because white bottled it.
Further, after 10... Qc7, 11. c5 and white is up to 41-33-25
(these numbers are percentages)
why not just 8.rb1? you actually threaten nxd4 next and white is clearly better!
8. Rb1 is better than Nxd4, so too is Na4 and Qd2.
8. Na4 for me, but only because I have access to a database. With no database, it'd be 1. e4.
