I hesitate to mention the name Bobby Fischer in these threads as that very name gets some people very riled up. Yet he was a ordinary human being ( great at Chess tho of course ) just like other humans. He put his pants on one leg at a time and I imagine that when he took a big dump there was a strong odour just like with the rest of us.

We have a couple of new threads in these forums that might be of interest: The Crimes of Bobby Fischer " & " Did Bobby Fischer Enjoy
Life ? ".

Well as far as we know he was not a bank robber and also was never accused of murder so I guess that any major crimes are off the table. As he got older he became more and more paranoid plus he could be very unpleasant by all reports. Mind you most of us have a fault or two I would guess.

--- Thanks for the post Javan64, perhaps not as interesting here as I thought  lol.

Dang (thought it was Chinese).

Actually, I think the Irish curse goes:  "May you live next to England."

Gee, the Irish must really hate the Scots!  (and the Welsh)

---Thanks for the new posts.

I just bumped into a funny variation of our fun game that is entitled " Chess-o-rama ". It is played by 8 people on 4 interlocking boards and there are 2 teams based on the colours of the Chessmess. I'm not sure how many games of this type were ever played.

--- To see just what a regular fellow Fischer was in the early days one can go over to Youtube and watch a clip of a visit that Bobby made on the Dick Cavett Show. It was done before Fischer became World Champ and it is rather eerie to watch him with Cavett when one considers how Bobby conducted himself in his later years.

Well We had somebody with a thread that said players rated under 900 should be banned and now a couple of threads are going that say players under 2000 should all be kicked out ( are we having fun yet ? ).

A new thread here asks: Is it fair to Castle ? Well last time I reviewed the rules of Chess both player were allowed to Castle ( I think that seems fair  lol ).

ivandh

I think castling is cowardly, the king should lead his pieces instead of hiding in a corner.

Good point, however at the same time the King must be protected, going back to Medieval times one can see that the Monarch is very important ( indeed as the King is in the game of Chess ).

In this thread on silly things I should perhaps mention the name of a new thread that I have just seen ( entitled " Chess Is a Waste Of Time " ). That thread was possibly started by a long lost relative of the late great Albert Einstein ? LOL !

cabadenwurt

Speaking of silly threads someone has started a thread entitled " Can Justin Bieber become a GM ? ". That brings up another important question " Can a turkey become a Swan ??? ".

cabadenwurt

This is a thread about silly stuff, the latest addition is ? How about a thread that is entitled: " Ban Castling " ( Nah, that's too silly  lol ).

cabadenwurt

" How Chess Ruined My Life ! " is a title that seems to fit right into this thread on silly things. Yes there is a thread on the go here with that title and while a person's life could be ruined by a number of things I'm not sure that Chess is one of them.

--- Thanks for the post Javan64, I got quite a chuckle out of that one. Mind you if I could be a young Canadian singer I would prefer to be Paul Brandt ( I hear that he is a nice guy as well as being a good singer ).

At last there is a new FIDE rule that is not silly, cell-phones are being banned from venues hosting Chess game ( Question: what took so long ? ).

In keeping with our theme re sillyness someone has asked the question ( as the title of a thread no less ) of the " Difference between a 1800 Player and a 1300 Player ". Well I looked  into this area very deeply and from many angles over quite some time. The numbers 1800 and 1300 are of course based on the elo rating system developed by Professor AE Elo. I do not presume to speak for the Professor but I believe that he might have said that one difference between these two types of players is somewhere around 500 points ( more or less ? ).
