Do anyone know if it is possible to install the old version?
andriod app update pushed out yesterday

First off I love the new app! The extra options are absolutely fantastic and the themes/general look of the app is super nice. Kudos for that!
Now for the bad- I am having problems entering moves as well. Plus a couple random crashes. It was quite workable until this latest development with being unable to enter moves in Daily chess.

I hope we can get the old version back. It was the only reason I liked my phone (currently want to cancel it before I'm told I'm over-reacting I hate cell phones and only have one due to my fiance)
If someone knows of a way to restore the prior version please let us know. The current one doesn't work and shouldn't have been released. It doesn't allow me to move in my games, and says it's my move when it's my opponents and visa versa. It crashes and times out too frequently. I can't see any positives from this nor can I see any potential for it

so... chess.com admins...please...restore the old version...and when it works...put the new one...thank you very much, bye bye

Here is a letter I sent to one of the site admins, and it appears other than selecting opponents, the new application is now working correctly on the nexus 7 tablet.
Letter: I saw your response to the postings on the forum and I wanted to comment specifically about the new android application.
First the good: Someone obviously spent hours on developing a new application that really focuses on what is important in chess: Improvement through learning and feedback from actual live and correspondence games of whether the learning strategy is working. The tactics trainer is improved, as is the access to articles, and the articles are crystal clear.
Needs improvement: I originally downloaded the upgrade several hours ago and initially the check mark to make moves wasnt working. I looked again recently and now it is working. The analysis window still works, the board flip works, and the input to make moves works. The board settings are really good also for graphics. As a sidebar for those people who like purple, not highly relevant, maybe that can be made available, there is a pink and red option I guess for now.
The correspondence game selection doesnt allow for choice of opponent as far as I can see. This maybe of some relevance in choosing whom to play, not the utmost, but possibly. Of course an android user can simply log onto the site if this is an issue and choose games from there, then go back to the android interface application to submit moves and review games. Given that this application is of no cost, cant really complain too much.
Final thoughts: Given that chess.com has been successful for many years, I was originally invited to play on this site in 2011 by a physician I work with. He was blown away by the options available and has since become a paid platinum subscriber. The reality that the site offers affordable options and this new upgrade android application is very persuasive. Additionally the option to pay via check through regular snail mail is also valuable given that some people dont want or have visa/credit card for payment.
The direction of the new android application is a good one. The focus obviously is on chess rather than a social networking site, and that is how it should be, and it shows those in charge of the chess.com business model presently have good vision for future of the site.

hi all. can you please update to the latest version? and if you are still having problems can you please provide:
- your device info
- exactly what problems you are experiencing in as specific detail as possible?
thanks!

i do believe android lets you install old versions.
for those of you who cannot move, are you talking about online/daily chess, or live chess? please provide details. thanks!

Hi Erik.
Nexus 7 2012 model. I sent the email as requested you should have it somewhere with device specifics. Apparently the move maker checkmark has been fixed in the last couple hours, I can easily review games and analyse moves and then submit actual moves. It works great! Only thing that is problematic for current version is the ability to select which opponent you play for correspondence games, which I believe is similar to the options available for live games on the previous chess.com android application before this current upgrade. For both live and correspondence games it may be of some use to be able to specifically see and select opponents. For those who are inclined for correspondence games this may be bypassed by simply logging in at the main site and selecting correspondence opponents from there and then logging back into the android application.

so you want to be able to scroll through a list of opponents and select from the open seeks instead of being auto-paired up? you can challenge people directly. maybe i don't understand the reasoning behind looking through open seeks? they are usually gone before you can even accept them...

Erik. My cc matches do not submit moves
hrmm. that IS a problem :) did you get the latest update?

That is correct. The open seeks option allows you to select opponents from whom you/they can learn during the game for improvement. Actually they arent gone before I can accept them. I type 90 wpm and am very fast for response time(electric guitarist) so I miss the open seek options. And, if there is a player than you miss during an open seek, you can challenge them to play on their home page. Some people like the option of knowing who they may be playing before they decide to play. Other than this being missed on the new application, the work is obvious on the current application and really is impressive because it shows the business model and the future of chess.com, which is a comprehensive site to learn on and improve from chess.

noted. will consider!
since the update, I have a notification of "ongoing" chess live... but I never started a live game! I just want it to go away and it won't. deleting the app if I can't get it to go away before I go to bed. I feel bad aborting the game it throws me into if I accidentally touch the notification. go away, live notification!

(Samsung Tab 2 10.1) Some text description now with videos, but on search only one page of results come back, still can't find videos, still broken. In daily chess, gojng back and forth between analysis and making a move screws up the move list. Constantly have to go back to the Home page to flush out. Buggy buggy... And why do the bugs seem different between Samsung Tab and Galaxy 3 phone? It should all be Android. I'm running the latest on both devices.
Big question is......was it tested before it was rolled out???? and can we have the old one back until it is fixed!!!!!!!!!!!
