Are you kidding me does automove even work

I achieved this position in a misclick and admittedly mistake filled game. his only legal move is bd7 and I have a mate in qxd7#. he doesn't move for four minutes so I automove the checkmate and go watch a video, remembering the countless salt Lords who lost to me like this and seeing the i won game abandoned. I come back, he made the move after 11 minutes and my time hasn't dropped a second. it said I lost game abandoned. not only did the automove not go through, but I lost by abandonment after he didn't move for 11 minutes. wth.

Unless he/she did not enable the premove option, or premoved Qe8 instead of Qd7 by a mouse-slip accident. Otherwise, maybe there had been a connection issue earlier during the waiting.
