Arena Chess + Stockfish. Set up a position and play it out vs engine?

Anyone know if it's possible to do this?

 I just got Arena chess and added Stockfish.  I want to set up a position, then play it out vs engine?

I figured out how to set up a new position, but I can't get the engine to kick in, and reply to my moves.

Any ideas?

Sure it's possible. If it's not working, you've done something wrong. If you're playing the side to move, just move one of your pieces and the engine should play the other side. On the other hand, if the engine is playing the side to move, then you have to tell it to start playing by clicking on the little gear symbol (or in the menu, "Game --> Move Now".

Check if the engine is active or not by looking at the panel below the board after moving your piece -

If not, try reinstalling the engine by Engines --> Install new Engine --> Select the exe of Stockfish.

While installing Stockfish in Arena, always point to exe AFTER extracting the Stockfish zip file. I had done this blunder (??) and had the same issue as yours

I have installed Arena GUI with Stockfish and what is not working for me is to set up a position. I don't get the dialogue as shown in the HTML help. If I click on the board a white/black king is placed there, so the set up itself is working. But without the dialogue I can neither clear the board nor select another piece than king...

Any ideas how to remedy my problem?
