What's wrong with mutton?

Say, I saw an interesting tidbit a day or so ago-- maybe on the CNN website.  It was claimed that the most common meat consumed on the planet was goat.  The figure given was 60-some percent of all meat consumption by weight.  I would never have guessed.

Now there is a problem with olde English-If you read the Bible-it is written in Shakesperian english

Maybe olde fashioned-but it rubs off after a while.

IE-Dan Quayle-for those who are truly aware of American history

Today's bible has nothing to do with Shakespearean English or "Ye Olde English," am I right Flags? Give a bump, dude!

Apparently for some Brits these are sought out after features.

Maybe they will discover vegatables, and toothbrushes. And maybe a less than arrogant presentation. Stodgy and VERY boring

HAW! Cool

Those watches are on back order-due to popular demand.

Would you like to place an order?

I have eaten mutton, black pudding and all sorts of vile, meat-based concoctions. However I tend to avoid such things now. My teeth are not as bad as they were since I engaged the services of one your colonial orthodontists (OK, a Lithuanian but been here a long time). I miss the fog so much that I occasionally venture out to San Francisco and New York takes care of all humidity requirements in the summer. Did I miss anything?

First time I heard it, I felt this way as well. And it was within the past 2 years, I think. Pretty recent to discover something this basic, right?

a lot of people eat bugs and worms and dirt, some eat anuses, some eat brains and testicles.-----It's because they no choice-they would like steak.

Livers,eyeballs,uteruses,toes,tails,kidney,pancreatitis,lungs,throat,heart,intestines,nose,face.

Is this a virtue?

If I may quote my friend's uncle, "don't knock it tell you try it."

Those things are all yore onquarki

More for you-Ill have a steak-you eat lungs.

Avatar of oinquarki

A lot of people eat steak, but it's because they have no choice - they live in a society where only a small fraction of the animal is used, and people are raised to think that anything other than what the supermarkets feed them is gross. They would like livers, eyeballs, uteruses, toes, tails, kidney, pancreatitis, lungs, throat, heart, intestines, nose, and face if they had a chance to try it. Is this a virtue?

Avatar of oinquarki

How can you even blame lack of resources for people eating stuff like that? From a cow you can get a bunch of regular meat; it's the most abundant part. A cow only has one nose, one face, one heart, etc. If anything, what you're listing are delicacies.

And now I'm back to unsure on the fact.  From the Wikipedia article on goat meat:

Although cited in a New York Times article as "the most widely-consumed meat in the world,"[2], in total consumption goat is a distant fourth globally behind pork, beef, and chicken.[3] Goat is a staple of Africa, Asia and South/Central America, and a delicacy in a few European cuisines.[2] The cuisines most well-known for their use of goat include Middle EasternNorth African,IndianPakistaniMexican, and Caribbean cuisine.[4]

I associated goat consumption with the eastern Mediterranean and northern Africa regions, which don't account for a very big percentage of the world's population.  However, it's common consumption in southern Asia would make a big difference.

Incidentally, they point out that in Asia the term "mutton" refers to both sheep and goats, whereas most of the rest of the world uses "mutton" just for sheep.

Ummm . . . marinated goat chops . . .

Ok chef-

Mutton to most of the world is extremely fatty meat-with no flavour other than wool.

About the worst thing a human can eat outside of 2 Double Quarter Pounders with cheese and large fries, and 3 deep fried hot apple pies

and thats just the meat.

Avatar of Cystem_Phailure

I've never eaten mutton or wool.

I'm surprised you didn't spell it wououle.

I know what you can eat.
