At what age do you stop improving at bullet?

I think that it's possible to get better as you get older by focusing on pattern recognition, but it seems like at a certain point you'll get too slow at that as well.

oh and it's fine if you don't think of bullet as real chess. Just think of it as it's own thing. It's fun for me.

yeah I've seen a ton of older titled players (I know they were older because of the profile picture) usually cm's or nm's that were maybe around 2300 as their peak in bullet a few years ago and now they hover around 2000 or even less. usually from what I've experienced, they're still strong players but they just don't move fast enough, especially in the middlegame. so a rough estimate would be 55?

oh and congrats on 1900, I remember back when you were only 1700 like 2 months ago (back when we had that quarrel)

Congratulations on 1900 indeed, I for one suck at bullet.

thanks! Yeah no offense with all of that. That's good to hear that people start to fade around 55. I'm in my early 40's and it would be cool to get up to 2000 in bullet. ~2200 that you have is pretty impressive.

Thanks, it does seem like it's own goofy thing but fun.

There's a lot of older players who simply can't play fast enough for speedy time controls. Their brains still work, but their hands aren't what they used to be, and they pay dearly when that time drops below 30 seconds. I've seen a couple of videos where older GMs blew winning positions because they didn't realize their time was running out and started panicking like crazy, and it's pretty sad to watch.

Many grandmasters in their 30s and 40s continue to perform well in bullet formats by relying on superior positional understanding and efficiency.

I used to play loads of bullet but haven't played for ages. Main reason is it's not helpful for chess improvement, and i don't have a mouse so pretty slow compared to similar rated opponents which is frustrating.

In that regard I'll improve as I age as I'll get a quick mouse and good internet at some point happy
