Avoiding stupid blit losses

I've started playing casual chess again after many years. Recently playing 10 min games here. Problem is I lose lots of games in the stupidest way possible! Missed mates. Blundered pieces. Chaotic positions. Over the past several weeks (studying too) I've lost about a third of my games idiotically, and about a third on time.

Question is: any advise? (Note that I can't use the forum properly either!) Frustrated.

Play longer time controls.  At least Game 30.

Keep studying tactcs.

Double check your moves.

Analyze your games, and post them for peer review.

Thanks. Much appreciated.

Practice.

Thanks. I didn't think of that.

For an old guy I must admit you have a pretty good sense of humor. I like it.

Anyways, in blitz it is quite common to hang stuff. I hang stuff and my opponents hang stuff all the time. Blitz is just a different mindset. One of just having fun yet trying to do your best. If you miss a mate dont worry much about it, in low time situations hanging stuff is just a fact of life.

If you want a more serious game when hanging stuff is not as common then play at least one hour long games. And if you hang stuff, still dont be too hard on yourself.

I should also mention that beginners will hang a lot of stuff even in long time controls, again, just a fact of life. But I think you get the idea of hanging stuff because you dont have time vs hanging stuff because you just dont know any better.

Thanks for the help. Hanging stuff is a problem. And I have zero experience with 5 and 10 min games. Guess I have to start finding more time to play 30+ min games. But, at my age I don't know how many games I'll be able to get in before...you know...
