Bad habits die hard.

Bad habits developed through years of playing against weaker opponents dulled my strategic and tactical development. Now I am trying my hardest to shed those bad habits. Any tips?

Go up on unrated games or on an account where you don’t care about rating and then practice remembering those new ideas

Thanks. I'm new here. How can I choose to play rated or unrated games?

Try instead making a new alternate account on chess.com where it is used for privacy and where you can practice your openings and play without worrying about your rating. First make sure you have permission from chess.com to get the 2nd account and to get permission you should ask the support ai permission and the rest is predictable.

The best way to improve one’s strategic ability is to play at slow time controls against stronger opponents. Then, analyze the game afterward. Dont just focus on 1- and 2-move tactics. Rather, try to identify long range strategic ideas related to strengths and weaknesses related to pawn structure.

Thanks for the advise. That is the reason why I only focus, at the moment, on rapid chess because of the longer time control. I also need to brush up on openings. My repertoire is, frankly, extremely limited. I'll take your suggestiona to heart.
