I'm just now starting to get serious about chess and started using this app. what does it mean when it says I got beat by the time? I make my move and then my opponent makes there's and it says they won by time. can someone explain this to me. is there a way to play normal chess without having to wait a day between turns but I dont get beat by the timer? we play until one of us captures the others king

If you were playing Online Chess, then winning on time means you overstepped the time allotted to you to make your move, therefore your opponent wins the game. To answer your last question, there is no way to play where time is not an issue. A solution could me to play longer games where you have more time to think.

so how does the time work when I set 5 minutes does that mean I have 5 minutes to make a move or the game is five minutes long?

Five minutes per player

It means that you have five minutes for the entire game, as does your opponent.
