So we all know that youngsters keep breaking the records at becoming the youngest GM ever. It's a race to see who can earn that title at a younger and younger age.
But what is the record for the oldest person getting their GM title? I mean, this might be a big deal too as players generally peak while they are young and don't get much higher. So if someone was able to endure and get their final GM norm at, say, age 70, wouldn't that be an accomplishment too? It means they are spry enough to compete at that top level notwithstanding their age, even if they were never "the best."
So who is the OLDEST person to ever become a GM?
