Beginner and hanging pieces

I still hang them sometimes and I'm finally getting to 1300 rating. I am proud to say that my rating improved by about 100 points after I stopped hanging pieces so much. I still do, but it seems only when I'm winning and let my guard down.
I see you play a lot of 30 min games. The hangs only stop with practice and experience. I was once told to think, "If it were my opponent's move, what move would they make?" before even considering what move I'll make. And that skill really only comes with practice. The tactical puzzles here at chess.com are also reported to help but I personally haven't practiced with them that much. Another option is to look at every move on the board. Hung pieces are awfully frustrating. But trust me, they do get better with practice.
I suspect the tactical puzzles here would be the biggest help. Every time this is asked, that's one of the solutions suggested.

Thanks! That's pretty good advice. I never thought to examine my pieces for any danger before I move, I always did that once I decided my next move. I should have thought of this sooner. Pretty silly of me actually. Thanks again!
Try playing daily chess and examine every possible move your opponent could make. Don't try and look too far ahead, just one move will do to begin with, so you will certain!y see every hanging piece. Then maybe you'll get better at spotting hanging pieces quickly. At the very least you will feel better by not hanging any pieces!

Excellent video, thanks for putting it up. I'll certainly be subscribing to John's channel. It would be very instruction to play against him and get feedback in the same way, I'd probably learn more from one session with him than hours of the study that I currently do at the moment. :)
