Best chess events in UK to attend

Hi everyone

I'm hoping to start attending some graded chess events soon. Based on the level of my play and experience, what types of events of tournaments would you recommend for me to start with?

Some general advice along with some specific recommendations for tournaments or events will be greatly appreciated. I wouldn't have time for a weekly league at the moment, I'm hoping to do graded tournaments or congress and that type of thing but obviously Im not a GM or something so want to play people my level.

Ideally I'd like any recommendations near Sheffield or something in a major city like London, Birmingham, Manchester etc.
