Oh
FIDE is taking longer to certify than anticipated. We are hopeful to gain more ground this year however we have put the FIDE certification on hold as we are working on three more devices with US Chess currently.
More info is located in the Knowledge Base https://www.chessnoter.com/knowledge-base/are-you-us-chess-or-fide-certified/and the devices page https://www.chessnoter.com/devices/
As updates happen I will update the site.
Giorus,
I do plan to continue on with FIDE. The reason for the halt is US Chess gave us the thumbs up to upgrade the OS from Lollipop on the Nexus 6 so I moved us to Marshmallow. The devices I sent to FIDE had Lollipop at the time so my guess is I will need to start over again with the certification. With Marshmallow the big thing was adding streaming from the device via Wi-Fi for review games for coaches and we can support (3) more devices which will allow us to handle a larger demand from FIDE as there is over 1M registered players playing compared to US Chess which is over 90K. Also with the Marshmallow OS I added back in language support so we can support multiple nations as well with language support. So while it's not great news there was a reason behind it. Hopefully all will work out with US Chess on the three new devices and we can continue forward with FIDE next.
Glad your enjoying the device!
I personally bought the MonRoi about 10 years ago and have been very pleased with the results. The main benefits I have seen:
1. easily store all your games in one place: I know everyone says you can just input your games into a computer after the tournament, but lets be real - you're not going to do that. You'll either forget or be too lazy etc (plus it's just more work).
2. Notate quickly even in time pressure - I've had countless games where I've been able to notate during time pressure even with only 2 min left. Without the MonRoi, these valuable endgames would be lost and I couldn't study how I play under time pressure. (plus your opponent doesn't usually notate when ur in time pressure)
3. Mistake free notation that's easily exportable - even the best players can mess up notation and it's so much less hassle just to have it done right the first time.
While the eNotation devices do cost money, they are durable as I've had my MonRoi for 10 years.
Hope this helps!
Isn't it already certified?
It's certified by USCF but not by FIDE (yet).
