That‘s an interesting format. Maybe you should give the different games different weights though, like 3 points for the classical, 2 for the rapid and 1 for the blitz.

Yes this is interesting as well something like classical and 960 would score more points and least would be blitz for example

Although that is a good possibility however I think it breaks the tradition and kind of disrespects the tradition of the game. If we use this format people in 50 years time may ask:
Was Steinitz a proper world chess champion?
What about Lasker,
Or Capablanca,
and so on.
I think this would hamper the respect we have for these players as they didn't win the world chess championship in the 'proper way.'

Very interesting thought. I agree and disagree at the same time.
I mean if you look in the past , ex champions didn't use increment time controls, but now we do, so why no one asking this did Steinetz proper world champion if he didn't use increment? Many other rules took place such a just 12 games, which is very short, draws on move 30 ETC......... many more but that doesn't mean we loose respect for previous generations.
I think my format is perfect , because we don't cancel proper classical game but we added another tasks , which in my opinion is VERY important TODAY when prearranged draws happening all the time and computer prep almost till endgames. So to REALLY decide who's stronger player in TODAY'S computer days we need to do something about it , which shows my formula.

I agree that it would be best suited to tournament competitions. Would like to see such a competition.
One change I would like see is a return to longer matches.

In my opinion number 4 is the best and will bring the most revenue and spectators and non chess community.
I feel blindfold chess is a whole separate field of chess. It not shall I say 'normal'. You can be a great chess player without the need to be a great blindfold player.
Also if we superhumanise chess, like play without looking at the board, then where do you draw the line. How soon before you need the world championship to play chess while holding your breath underwater, or play chess trapped in a burning room and try to win.
I however do agree that if you the chess champion of the world, it is an unqualified statement, unlike Rapid world champion or blitz world champion, who are expected to be good only in Rapid or blitz respectively.
You are THE WORLD CHESS CHAMPION and must prove your mettle in rapid and blitz as well and they should very much be part of the championship or you quantify the champion by calling him the Classical Chess World Champion, like you do with Rapid and Blitz World Champs.

LET ME EXPLAIN :
Basically what crossfit trains you to do is succeed in all around areas of sport. Simply if you are good at crossfit you are well rounded sportsman.
So let's put this same formula to chess to determine who's the best chess player in chess in ALL AREAS!!
Why just classical chess (it's like just doing powerlifting) , why just blitz (it's just like running), does it mean you are a great sportsman if you are just good at one thing? No !
OK long story short
My proposal to determine world chess champion from now on !
12 Games ONLY ! :
1st game - classical game
2nd game - chess 960 game
3rd game - rapid game
4 - blindfold game
5 - blitz game
6 - 100 chess puzzles (who ever finishes first,with the more correct ones solved wins)
Same thing REPEAT another 6 games.
So in my opinion this 12 games will not just decided who's the better chess player is ,but also will bring so much excitement to the viewers.
