If these ulcers show up on your hands and face (visible body parts), and they do, so I've been told, Why would someone play chess with them?

Remember when Magic Johnson came down with AIDS. He was still able to play super basketball but none of the other players wanted to play with him so he gave it up. Would you want to play chess with someone who had an ulcerated hand or face?  No way Jose!

Eh maybe people were less prejudiced back then. Syphilis could hardly be contracted through playing a chess game. It wouldn't be likely to happen with AIDS in a basketball game either, but maybe in "close encounters".

Yes I think people used to play against lepers back in the 16th century. Perhaps thats how correspondance chess was first invented.

You can call it prejudiced if you want to but I'm not playing chess with someone who has ulcerated fingers. Atos, you can play with those guys, there aint nobody stopping youLaughing But please dont shake their hand!

I am no doctor, but I dont want to play basketball with someone who has AIDS. Its quite common to see blood in basketball games, be it highschool, college or pros.  And, just like the NBA players, I dont want that blood on me.

The primary stage ulcer, which goes away within a few weeks even with no treatment, shows up at the point of contact for the original infection, often just a single chancre on the genitals.
