I mean, is it even a question?  Duh.

But Bishops have the power of God (and the authority of the church).

blueemu

Depends. A Bishop with a machine-gun beats a Knight with a sword.

That's power, not strength.

asvpcurtis

i don't know about that, bishops had some influential political power; if they wanted it they could probably have a knight hanged.

Again, power, not strength. Person-to-person, the knight would invariably be stronger, unless it was a Shaolin priest:

Doubles Match!

2 Bishops have just challenged 2 Knights! The knight was talking trash now is silent and yet to reply. It has been a week now.

asvpcurtis

careful there strength has many definitions

Well the Bishop is not scared of a piece that can not move in a straight line. Yeah the Bishop does not move up and down files and ranks but it does have a straight path.

Hey pawn lover lover why are you defending knights. What have they done for you lately, stay with your clan. Tongue Out

asvpcurtis

Immediate vs. any other kind.  If you took a real bishop and a real knight (in the right time period) and pitted them against each other to battle to the death, mano a mano, the relevant strength would be primarily physical.  While it might be possible for the bishop to outsmart or outwise the knight, highly unlikely the bishop would prevail.  That kind of strength.

Of course it will take quite a bit of strength for you to hold your tongue at this point ... :-)

This made me think of Alexander Anderson from Hellsing. Although he's stronger than any knight, he's a priest, not a bishop.

Natalia_Pogonina

In Russian bishops are called elephants and knights - horses. Guess who is stronger...

Stalin?
