Blitz and Bullet are not chess

Blitz chess is real chess. You just don't have time to calculate extremely deeply, but u have time to calculate. In bullet, u don't have time to calculate at all. It all comes down to rushing, premoving, and flagging.

hello? bullet is still chess. u can calculate in 1 0, although it many times will come down to time scramble, u still have to make quality moves.

your statement that anything under 2 1 is not chess, is so absurd. you are moving the same pieces and playing the same game, no? just with a diff time control. it is therefore still chess.

You have almost no time to calculate. You can have 3 queens and still not have enough time to even premove. Anything over 2 min is OK.

Not to mention mouse slips.

Still chess though. You can't argue that it's not chess. You are still playing the same game. About the 3 queens thing, that is why you play bullet on lichess. The premoves there are 0.0 seconds.

Even Nakamura(a bullet maestro) considers  bullet as not chess. In his bullet book, commenting one of the bullet games , Nakamura mentioned one player makes a mistake of winning the queen as he loses precious time. This kind of strategy is not chess.

It is STILL THE GAME OF CHESS. Naka says that bullet doesn't involve much of chess STRATEGY, but the GAME WE ARE PLAYING IS STILL CHESS! I really don't see why it's so difficult to understand.

Blitz is chess, but I really don't think bullet is real chess. All you have to do is consolidate your position and win on time. While in blitz, you actually learn to use your intuition.

Bullet is an extreme way of training intuition. During my 1|0 games I quickly scan the board as fast as I can to see any simple tactic that I can see, maybe 2 or 3 moves deep only due to the limited time of seconds.

pretzel2

you have to calculate in bullet, so still chess.

No sh*t u have to, but u don't have enough time to. Bullet ratings are completely inaccurate of your ability. My blitz rating is in the 1500s, while my bullet rating is in the 1100s. Bullet is just for LOLs

Playing bullet chess is like taking a school examination; you have to complete everything within a limited time span, while playing standard chess is like studying for exams at your own pace, where time is much less crucial. Though, the analogy is bad, since you are expected to combine everything that you have learnt and produce quality answers in the exams, whereas bullet chess produces games of mostly lower quality than that of standard games. I used to play a mix of both rapid and blitz, and both time controls complement each other to some degree. Rapid and standard trains you to calculate deeply while blitz trains you to calculate efficiently. Now, however, I am a permanent bullet player, and I just play chess for fun.

I play 3 min. 3 min is the best time control

All along I have thought that you play time controls like 15|10 since you are in support of longer time controls. For me, playing 1|0 bullet against other players is purely for fun - just to see who makes the better-looking legal moves and who is more alert. I do include 3|0, 5|5 and 15|10 controls from time to time.

10 min too long, 1 min way too fast.
