Blitz rating vs Live rating

I notice that 100% of my opponents have a blitz rating hundreds of points lower than their Live Rating?

I am 1500 live and 1000 blitz.

Does anyone else encounter this discrepency

between Blitz and Live Ratings?

It's prob not a 500 point difference, but yes, a 100-300 point difference give or take is the norm on this site.

Kind of a rude awakening when you go to 5-minute blitz and get hammered by 1100s who know the Sicilian Dragon Yugoslav attack move by move to at least move 11, and also know to play the dangerous Soltis h4 attack as white. In UCSF ratings, you'll never see a true non-provisional 1100 OTB player do that.

By Live you mean Standard, right?  Blitz is reputed to be the toughest division here according to a lot of posts I've read so that kind of makes sense.  Also everyone got a gift rating boost in Standard a while back after some titled player complained he couldn't beat 1800s here.

I think live standard is the toughest here

In my experience, it's true for <1600 and the opposite is true for >2100

Thanks for the feedback/reality check everyone, and yes by live I mean the Live-Standard  (Game longer than 14 mins by less than the one move per day kind).
