Some have played tens of thousands. A few have played over 100,000 (I know a guy)... all this to say, it's probably not a lack of concentration. Chess skill isn't something that happens in a matter of days, and it (typically) takes a lot of reading and practice. Videos feel nice, but passive learning isn't great.

I don't know how many games that I have played online. I do know that my personal database of online games contains nearly 70,000, that thousands of games are missing due to database corruptions that occurred while I was learning to use ChessBase, and that I have systematically excluded my bullet games. I've played bullet on ICC, Playchess, FICS, and chess.com with a handful of games elsewhere. On chess.com, I have quit bullet after 10,000 wins.

My best guess is that I passed 100,000 games a couple of years ago.

And now I know two hehe :)

The other guys says he regrets his habits, but he still plays, so... yeah. Too much fun, improvement isn't worth it to him. I don't mean that in a negative way either.

This particular expression of regret was quoted in a scholarly book: http://chessskill.blogspot.com/2009/01/blitz-addiction.html

I read Counterplay. It was a fun read. It got a bit repetitive towards the end, but it had some interesting insights.

Haha, yes!

You can't end on a loss.
And a win is so much fun, might as well play 1 more.

And then many hours later you wonder how you got into this mess yet again. This is how it is for me anyway.

Have you read the book in the amazon link? Looks interesting.

A clear, fit and sober brain is what I lack most of the time in blitz, bullet and standard. Since "tempo" is one of the pilars of a solid chess game, qualities such as patience and decisiveness are indispensible. A focussing mind helps to know when to be patient and when to be attacking.

Being aware of which pieces are undefended is also vital as it avoids fatal blunders.

Now your words are kinda significant. A little push is always desirable, don't you think so?

Yes, thanks :) It was fun.

A little frustrating getting used to the time (I used to love 3|0), but nearly there I think.

Players with lag are tricky. I make moves as fast as them... or so I think. Then I look at the clock and I'm over a minute behind Frown

I'm not sure if I'm just being distracted by the game or if it really happens though.

I considered downloading a screen capturing program so I could watch a video of it later.

If it happens a lot it might be worth it. The you (or I) could post a video for proof.

And you know... if it's a 3|0 game that ends after 5 minutes and the time on the two clocks adds to 2 minutes then this is probably a terrible place to play Laughing  But so many people play here I'd be surprised if it were that bad.

I have seen on many occasions that the player who is behind in clock is the player with high lag... Never those with good sturdy reliable connections.. :p
