I sometimes fall afoul of the Retained Image blunder... when calculating a long sequence of moves, I sometimes assume that a particular piece is still sitting on a certain square even if the line I'm examining has that piece move off somewhere else.
What are the most common blunders made in chess? For example I sometimes fail to see sideways moves. Also I sometimes make counting errors, I try to exchange pieces and find my opponent has one more piece than I do and comes out ahead. What causes you to make blunders? What kinds of blunders do masters and gms make?
