Bots that play far above their rating

Has anyone noticed that bots like Isla play above 2000 in though the rating is 1700? I lost a game where it played 2550.

The bot ratings may be significanly off from the playing ratings of humans. There are hundreds of posts discussing this. They made all bot games unrated a number of years ago because some people were farming the bots for ratings.

Meanwhile, those after-game estimates are even less accurate estimates. They just take the reported starting rating and add points for each section. Run the analysis again with a 1000 reported rating for Isla and it will tell you that Isla played with a 1850 strength.

Why would you resign here?

I have understood that it is hard to program the bots to play bad moves in a human-like way.

Meanwhile, I see that you have played 265 games against Isla and that you have won 65 times, so you probably know more about how it plays than most people.

Here is the analysis run where Isla's starting rating was reduced to 1000.

Same moves.

You see? It only played like an 1850 now.

Eh I beat him and I've never beaten a bot 2250 or above.

The bots 1700 and above often play with over 90% accuracy. I don’t see how there is much room for the boys to improve between 1700 and 2700. I see players ranked over 2500 play with worse accuracy than the bots do on average.
