Buzzfeed takes different angle on Carlsen victory

Hi guys, long time lurker but first time poster. Been seeing a lot of stories on Magnus Carlsen today from a variety of places including the BBC over here but Buzzfeed the list site took a different interesting angle: chessboxing.

The story talks about how the chessboxing is rising in popularity and that it not chess could be an Olympic sport eventually? What do we think? I'm not so sure thats all that likely...

Chessboxing is a novelty, and like all novelties is fills a specific niche. I think it is good for chess overall, though, because it introduces the game to people who would otherwise ignore it. It won't ever be an event we see at the Olympics but I'm sure Discovery Channel or Spike TV would love something like that.

Chess boxing is ok, but they got the venue wrong.  We shouldn't bring chess boards into a boxing ring but instead bring fist fights into chess clubs!

I like boxing and I like chess but chess boxing is stupid. No chance of it being an Olympic sport at all.

Nothing is enough for the modern generation. They are fed up with watching the best of the best playing chess, they are fed up with the best of the best boxing so they come up with this idiotic idea. Wouldn't watch it if you paid me. I mean... for the love of...
