We already know now how to castle and Queen-side castling is called castling long and King-side castling is called castling short from the previous note. It may have occurred to you that castling is a great way to get out of check. Alas, you'll have to forget it. There are some provisos , as given below . You cannot castle if: -The king , in castling , has to pass through a square controlled by an enemy man.(chess men/chess pieces). - The King and the Rook has been moved before. (If only the king Rook has been moved it is still legal to castle on the Queen's side with the Queen Rook. Likewise, if only the Queen Rook has been moved it is legal to castle on the King side.) - One or more squares between the King and Rook are occupied by pieces of either color. The Pawn. Next on the cards.

Just move the king to the destination square. The rook will move automatically.
