Who has a big ego ? god or planet ?
Can God make an engine so strong that he can not beat it?

'Cuz when I open this thread ?....I see this big ugly fathead w/ smoky glasses staring back at me....and it's all your fault 4 reminding me........
So, I owe you one now....The Grunfeld....white plays an early h4 !!....how annoying.

Satan beat God in a chess game. That was the real reason he was thrown out of heaven.

Why do people try to consider themselves intelligent just based on what they believe or not? Kind of sad really. It's a lot harder to actually do smart things, than to just believe in certain things or not.
The thing about your post is that it's not even trying to constructively sway people. It's just self-serving.

Why do moderately intelligent people believe in myths? Notice that the more educated and intelligent folks, like myself, tend to be atheists (agnostics with guts).
You misspelled "trolls". I have a math degree, my postgrad tutor suggested I slow down a bit in tutorials to give my (younger, some better-qualified) fellow students a chance to catch up, and she commented on how well-read I was. Of course she was only a doctor of Cambridge University... and here I am, certifiably uneducated and stupid, because I believe in God.
And yes, i could do without that pompous self-aggrandizing neckbeard back on Page 1.

Perhaps you're educated enough to explain to the rest of us, why we should believe that one particular creation myth, out of thousands of others.
Why do moderately intelligent people believe in myths?
There is some security in accepting what your parents taught you. If they said thunder was made by Thor chasing giants with his hammer you had a practical explanation. Few would without being told this say that thunder was caused by Thor, it only works if you accept what someone else made up as the truth. So I guess it just has to do with accepting what someone made up long ago as true, and get a feeling of security out of it. No less so if the myth has a reward system, i.e. if you believe in this myth you will live forever, but if you don't you will be tormented for all eternity.

Not all atheists are trolls. I'm an atheist, but I do not attempt to argue believers out of their beliefs. Nor do I try to ridicule them. If they feel they've found comfort in a concept, good for them.
I think all beliefs should be questioned, regardless what they concern. When I started following chess I believed draws and Soviet players were evil, that Lasker did little except evading the best opponents, etc. By reading, questioning and discussing I came to the conclusion that these beliefs in many ways were just incorrect. So instead of just holding on to what I once believed I changed my opinion based on critical thinking and being open to other explanations. Maybe I'm less open to them nowadays though :-)
To some Kasparov must have been the 100% good guy and Karpov the 100% bad guy (or the opposite), Fischer must have been the greatest player ever, Kasparov must have been cheated out of a rematch, Kramnik and not Shirov must have been the legitimate challenger year 2000 (or the other way around), Carlsen must be overrated (or the greatest ever), Anand can't have won the title in a tournament in 2007, etc.
To some these opinions reach a mythical level, where no facts or discussions ever can make another explanation possible, or where you just repeat something without actually thinking about it. Chess beliefs can have a bit of a religious touch too.

Perhaps you're smart enough to explain why it is that as a Christian I must therefore believe in a literal Creation.
Then you can go on to explain where I was telling anyone else to believe in anything.
blueemu: I did not say that all atheists were trolls, only people like tubebender.

I don't believe anything. I believe everything!

And the same for believers....I happen 2 b 1....but, I don't try to make believers. Ur all grown-ups. Uv all given it plenty - and I mean plenty - of thought. So you don't justify it. So what. I'm not out trying to 'save' people cuz 'they' say u need 2 spread the word. Im having enuf trouble saving myself (twinkle in my eye )

Everything can be taken to a mythical level....Everything. The biggest problem w/ these forums is so many think way way too much.

Perhaps you're smart enough to show us all where it says in the bible that it doesn't have to be taken literally.

Perhaps you're smart enough to explain why Biblical literalism is a historically recent fad, with extra credit for demonstrating awareness of differing schools of thought among Christian denominations through the centuries.
A lot of lazy-ass atheists want to act like all Christians believe every single word in the Bible is literally true, so they can point and laugh and say things like "hur hur xians think the value of pi is three!". It's much less trouble to beat a strawman than to understand and argue against what the other side actually thinks.

Perhaps you're smart enough to show us all where it says in the bible that it doesn't have to be taken literally.
That is a funny sentence, because it might be required to take the bible literally to prove that statement using the bible.
I can tell you that I sometimes take things that people say literally and other times I don't do that.
A good friend of me is muslim. The way he believes is very open to other people and other religions. I think that his attitude is very beautiful. Completely different than other muslim people we hear about in the news. Who are the true muslims? Who am I to judge that or that I have the authority to simplify what true islam is? I don't think I have or can do it.
Nor about Christianism nor about Buddhism nor about atheism.
NO BECAUSE OF HIS BIG EGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
