Can I abort a game before I make a move and not have it effect either player? If so, is there a prop

I know this might seem like a silly question, but I would like to know if there is a gentleman's rule I should know.

When you seek a game, chess.com does its best to find a game that will be a fair test for you, trying to offer you a balance of whites and blacks and an opponent in your rating class.

When you abort a game, perhaps because you only like to play black, you annoy your opponent, who has just seen 20 seconds of his life go down the toilet. This may seem inconsequential to you, since it is all about you, and if this only happened once in a great while, it could perhaps be excused (someone started banging on the door!).

However, most people find multiple games in a row being aborted to be quite frustrating.

Don't you want chess.com to be a nice place to play a game?  Of course you do.

Don't abort games any more.

I believe there is a limit to how many games you can abort and eventually it will start to count them as a loss. I'm not sure about that though.

I just would rather not play with individuals that have user names which are derogatory.

I never abort games. But I have played on sites where some people have usernames that are terribly racist. I prefer not playing with such individuals, and should that happen here, I would certainly abort.

It won't be a problem if you don't do it often.

If someone's username is really inappropriate you should report them.
