Depends what you mean by rich. If you mean Bill Gates rich, then absolutely not.

Also depends what you mean by chess. If you mean getting rich by just playing chess, then you need to be on the very top (like in top 30 or something) to be able to make a living from playing chess alone.

If, however, you mean doing chess related stuff like coaching, making chess content, making tools, chess sites (like this one), then you can make a living doing it (for some of that you do not even have to be a good player), but getting truly rich would be difficult.

Definitely not like the top 1% richest but you can make money writing and teaching…

Teaching and writing can pull in a pretty good income, although I’m unsure if you can call it rich.

You can make some money but unless your like always winning big tournaments, you’ll just probably be an average person (moneywise)

No you cannot.
Chess is a great hobby, but a lousy profession.
Many grandmasters struggle to make ends meet, especially towards the end of their careers.
Only the top ten can comfortably live from it.

Sure! If you can achieve blitz rating on chess.com 2900+ you won't be poor, that's for sure.

If you want to be really rich you need to achieve blitz rating on chess.com 3200+
