Hmm.
You may have been unlucky, because (as you correctly thought) the Sicilian has very strong results against e4.

From what I've seen, 1. d4 is much more common in current tournament play (at least in this past U.S. championship). I'm pretty sure 1. e4 is the more common move, but 1. d4 may surpass it eventually.
I suppose buying a book on the Sicilian would feature a few. I'm currently reading through Kasparov's on my Great Predecessors Part V and mostly see 1. d4s, Caro-Kanns, and French defenses. Every now and then a Sicilian, but mostly 1. d4 (which is great for me, as I'm trying to get better with the 1. d4 openings).
I'm not much help, I know.
Hi there,
I am currently learning all the theory about the Sicilian Defense because it is a powerful weapon against e4. I was trying to see some Grandmaster games in action from that opening and I can't find or rarely find that the black side (Sicilian defense) wins the game? How is that possible? I thought it was the best reply to e4 and with results to back that fact down. Can someone explain this?
Thanks.
look up the shredder opening database, which covers all GM games. input 1.e4 c5 and you will see all the games/stats

That has more to do with the people the book is about, get Part 4 and the only thing you will see for 300 pages is the Spanish and Sicilian.
Go to www.chessgames.com. You can choose the opening, and only view games where black wins. You can even pick which player you want.
