Can we create a new topic that isn't about chess?

I kept wanting to create some topics that are not about chess, but i am afraid no one will bother about it, cause it's not chess at all.

My friends told me that i might get banned because this is Chess.com. Not other things. We should be talking about chess, they said.

But why do you think there is an ‘off topic’ section? If that was the case a lot of people would have got banned by now.

The 'off topic' section is so you can talk about all sorts of things. 

I thought we will get banned.

If it complies with the chess.com rules you won't get banned. If people got banned for posting off topic threads then we'd all be banned. So no, don't worry at all.
