The current Women´s World Champion, Hou Yifan, does not like Fide women´s world championship format.

Fide has also arranged women´s world championship in Iran, which a lot of players dislike.

Is the women´s championship likely to split now? Fide declaring someone who shows up in Iran a champion, while Hou Yifan claims to still be the champion, and defends it against some who don´t show up in Iran?

Yifan has sat out every other cycle for a while now.

So no need to split, just keep going as is.

Yes, but that's the first time there are a lot of other disgruntled players available to challenge her off Fide.
