Its so frustrating. I cannot win any games any more, my rating dropped by almost 100 points within some days. I am getting outplayed by everyone. It seems that i have forget how to play chess. What can I do? Just look at my recent game history: red red red....

@op in my experience taking a few days break from chess really helps

and I also change my flair to the tilt one , just as a small ritual

Analyse your lost games.
Whenever you lose a game stop playing and analyse it first.

Here are some things to try:

1. Take a break (even a full 2 weeks is sometimes good)

2. Play correspondence chess

3. Don't play on tilt

4. Limit the number of games you play

5. Take time to study more

6. Just enjoy the game

Excellent suggestions, all.  I am doing what you suggest after many moons of “hopium” chess, and what you say has really, really helped me.

OP I think you’re pretty good, really.  If I could reach 1800 and stay there, I would feel pretty good.  Don’t give up.

Kotshmot

Thats a good old tilt.. Your confidence is down and a huge part of chess performance is your mental state. In a tilt you try to force things, stop analysing things objectively and lose patience. This results in terrible play. A good way for myself to break the tilt is take a break from playing, watching some inspirational chess content and getting back to playing when I feel good about it again.

Verbeena

stassneyking & kothmot summerized it well. Take a break, get some inspiration (from videos perhaps), do some study and you will bounce back for sure.

Also a lot of players are massively underrated...i used to beat experts and even NMs that are 2300 blitz yet now i am losing to 1150-1350 rated blitz players .

I think it’s normal to fluctuate ~100 points above and below your rating sometimes, even in the span of a few days. I wouldn’t feel disheartened by it; as others have said, it’s probably time to relax and take a bit of a break

Look man, whenever you lose rating, you only get frustrated because you care too much about the rating than the game itself. Just play chess for fun and show sportsmanship even if you lose a 1000 games in a row. With every game lost learn something new and eventually you will get better.

Hi man,

If you are losing too many games suddenly, you can definitely try learning and mastering a new opening.

I would suggest you to learn the english opening for white and the carro kann defense for black. Do not diversify in the beginning but learn and master one opening.

In the midddlegame you can try to make calculated moves and start focusing more on endgames. Many Newbie players are hasty in openings and with proper move set, you will win. Try to give learning a week before moving on to new openings.
Good Luck!
