Carlsen Supplies New Evidence That Chess Is A Draw With No Mistakes

I love poker. I just don't look down on anyone doing something other than my favourite activity at that particular time.
For those poker players especially in the USA who still try and play on line.
Beware of Locke Poker. If you send them money you will never get it back. If you win some [ like I did ] and ask for the money--you will not get your money. It is a fraud. I repeat, Do not send them money.
Have you seen their new marketing campaigns for "Lock 2.0" now that they were kicked off of their old network?
They keep spamming me with ads for their freerolls every night.
Your best bets these days are Winning Poker Network, Intertops, and LiveAce poker...although LiveAce doesn't have pure cash games like WPN and Intertops.

Actually myself and a few of my friends also have completely lost interest in OTB chess over this last year. Plus the venues where we meet and play chess are just too darn noisy and raucous to really get into the right mental state.
I foresee chess's popularity with young Americans to further decline in the decades to come now that Magnus Carlsen is going to be the World Champ.
Are you saying Americans favor Anand??
That's weird, if you go back a move after black castles, there's a rook on d8. Clicking Kxd1 or the first move button works correctly.

A few months ago it was 'you're all noobs playing on chess.com, all the real players play on ICC'.
Now you're still a horrible player (despite promising rapid improvement this year), so have moved to poker, and have started the 'you noobs only played it when it's popular'.
I'm hoping you're no better at poker than chess, I wont have to come across you online again. You wont afford the connection.
ha! good!

seeing just how played out and dead chess is
Not everyone has your staggering knowledge of chess. Count yourself unlucky that you're far too advanced to enjoy what must seem to you such a simple game.
I don't think chess is simple. I think it's extremely complex and a highly intellectual affair. The outcome of a match just doesn't matter at all.
I'm 31 years old. There are incentives for me to get good at poker. If I spend 8 years getting up to 1800+ in chess - Who cares? I win nothing but the biggest waste of time award.
I showed up to one of my local chess clubs a few times over the past three weeks. I swear to you, I've seen paint dry in a more exciting fashion. As soon as the match ends "uh...ok. Want to play blitz now?". Nothing happens. It's a pointless activity for an adult.
haha, I stumbled upon a really funny thread. Some of this stuff is reallly funny. It's nice to know, however, that ponz111, wafflemaster, scottrf, and some others are here on chess.com making this 'pointless activity' so much more enjoyable and educational for me.
As for our dear poker player, who I am just having the first pleasure of meeting,...chess is a pointless activity, but the point of writing that over and over on this thread is...what's that??!!
I think scottrf may be right. You're 31, very young from my point of view. You have a lifetime ahead of you. Stay away from poker, which I know nothing about, and chess, which I know a tiny bit about, and try something that you may be successful at, like standup comedy.
haha, I had some good before-bed laughs tonight. Thank you ponz and others for your brains, your logic, and your good sense of humour in the face of this...very funny young man!!

I live in Kankakee illinois where there was no real chess for decades.
Finally a chess club at the local YMCA. I went there once but nobody interested in playing me. Later they had their championship and this young kid about age 18 won. Not only did he win but the beat all the players he played which was 9. [to be continued]

Just try clicking through the first few moves, the white K first takes his own queen, then makes a huge knightlike jump into triple check on move 2, gets taken, and disappears for the rest of the game! Someone got his PGN messed up ...

Who was that was it you at age 9, brah??
No it was a young man age about 18. He was very happy that he had won all his games and the Kankakee Championship. He wanted to play me.
I told him only under tournament conditions such as timed etc. He agreed to a ten game match. Every Saturday he came to my home and we had a timed game. I provided snacks and drinks and nice environment.
He learned something from for ten games.

You don't get it. This is all a bunch of total NONSENSE. Chess, is, and has been know, to be a draw, beyond any reasanable doubt. If white won with best play, chess would be no fun and nobody would play it.
Why in the world do you think chess could be a forced win for white???
That idea is total garbege, throw it in the trash now.

And not only that, but the Berlin has completetly NOTHING to do with rather chess is a draw. ANY other half way respectable opening is a DRAW with best play: QID, Nimzo, Grunfeld, KID, Benoni, Ruy Lopez, Berlin, Scotch, Four Knights, Kings Gambit, English, Reti, Italian, Sicilian, French, Caro Kan, Scandinavian, Queen's Raid, etc. etc. All a draw.
HOWEVER. Just because it is a draw with best play says NOTHING on how fun chess is. Tell me who plays best? Not you or me.

quak170 you believe and I believe and just about all grandmasters believe chess is a draw with best play but a lot of players on chess.com do not believe this. This forum is not about how fun chess is. Sure chess is fun, however. Who plays best? If you refer to humans it is the new world champ.

yeah well. those people who think white to move and win know nothing about chess. at all. Also once again this topic is useless because the Berlin has nothing to even do with prof that chess is a draw.

You misunderstand. Black does not need to try and "force" a draw. In fact, 99% of the time black would actually like to win.

Only in supergrandmaster competition does it make sense [sometimes] to try and force a draw.
Besides, the best way to draw [if that is your goal] is to play for a win--in other words justs make the best moves possible.

Yeah in actual practice (I always try playing for a win even as black) but in theoretical exercises where one tries finding the best moves it simply isn't realistic to force a win for black, as white will play his best moves too unless the position is somehow a zugzwang and black gets the vastly superior endgame after white's attacks fizzle out.
